The Norfolk Box
A contemporary box dug up from the past…
This box is made from an oak growing 5000 years ago. A tree that was alive in bronze age Norfolk, fell, and was preserved in mud and water, its grain slowly filling with minerals giving the oak its blackness. The land where it once stood dried out to become arable land and at the turn of this century the ancient tree was dug out of a field to prevent damaging farm machinery.
Designed to reflect the rich history of the British landscape and the treasures buried within.
30cm x 20cm x 15cm
Bog oak, 24 carat gold leaf, lined with felt hand-made by Jo Polack.
